Mmm, Kronenburg.
If only they were full….
Man, I love Kburg…
In the Jewish tradition of the Bible it says, “Speak to her softly, so that she will want to engage in sexual activity.” In today’s world, there’s a little bit of a danger in that people don’t really talk to each other. You see couples walking in the street, each of them texting someone else. That worries me.

Touches on a greater worry I have about where we’re going as social people. We’re going to have to encourage our kids to ask someone out in person and not via HTC Mobile SMSes.

My girl is fucking smart…

Get the money
Dollar, dollar bill y’allWu Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.
Money makes the world go ‘round and remember, if Method Man says it, it must be true. Plastic has replaced paper in most wallets today, but Wu’s epic track remains one of the most quoted of all time for a reason - we can all relate to it.
On December 30th, 2010, I changed my desktop background to the above photo. I originally saw it on the cover of an art picture book at Type Books in Toronto while I was Christmas shopping and the image has been ingrained in my membrane ever since. Not just because the cash is stored in a classic Nike Air box (I wonder which kicks came in it?) but because it was full of Canadian money. It’s not every day that our brightly coloured currency with Borden’s and Mackenzie King’s instead of Benjamin’s, line a stash box. A Canadian sneakerhead’s dream maybe?
Yes, the image is dope and rich for various reasons, but I chose it because I want motivation for 2011. I am not generally one for resolutions as I often find they just end up setting myself up for disappointment. I want to have tangible goals and a path set. I need to be accountable if I want to achieve my goal of being both happy in my job but also clearly on the path to the dream career. I am a visual person and I know that I need to employ a dieting rule - write everything down truthfully - to really see how I’m falling short and what I need to work on. For example, when I saw almost $700 show up on my Visa bill, I knew I had to return a pair of perfect Balenciaga wedges. I have to think before I shop and spend, I don’t have the luxury of shoeboxes full of money to throw down at luxury stores or plane tickets.
This blog will chronicle how I’m trying to pay off debt and learn to be financially responsible while also investing in my career and building a network. I am a chronic shopaholic so I will likely be posting both wonderful items I lust for but cannot afford as well as affordable deals and money saving tips I find along the way. I know that I will never be able to afford Ghostface Killah’s gold (although I do tend to gravitate towards the metal like a bee to honey) but hip hop’s message of never knocking the hustle is inspiring to a girl with big dreams.
2011 is my year of put up or shut up. I currently have only $20 in savings account and my Nike boxes are for my shoes not Benjamin’s, but this year I will learn to stack my cash, stop relying on plastic, pay down debt and focus on what’s a good investment for my future, not just my wardrobe. This blog isn’t one big resolution, it’s a reinvention.
Now, let’s get it.
Who thought this song was a good idea? It may be better/worse than “Smell Yo Dick..”
I feel enlightened.
Oh, boy. Kind of amazing.
How many men learned something with this one? Be honest!
…nothing wrong with a good laugh to start the day.
Better then arguing sports stats or the latest political blunder.
